I understand that owning a human brain can be annoying at times. My goal is to help you take uncomfortable thoughts and feelings out of the driver’s seat and choose behaviors consistent with what you value most in life. My approach is grounded in evidence based cognitive behavioral therapy techniques--primarily, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
I use tools such as humor and mindfulness to help clients develop more flexible thinking patterns. Though therapy is serious work, I find that occasional silliness can go a long way toward challenging the unhelpful stories that our brains like to tell. I love incorporating geeky media references and metaphors to help illustrate therapeutic concepts.
My approach is supportive, creative, and collaborative. I strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable and accepted--I find this is especially important for clients who have been struggling to connect with others socially. I encourage clients to take active steps toward a life they value even when such steps seem daunting.
